Covid action research: Prevention in the Pandemic

Respect Victoria commissioned a suite of new research exploring the impact coronavirus (COVID-19) has had on family violence and violence against women. The first in this series is 'Impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on Victoria's family violence primary prevention workforce'.

The report found that primary prevention of violence against women practitioners are being directed away from primary prevention work to assist in response duties during the COVID-19 pandemic. Conducted by the Gender and Disaster Pod (GAD Pod), this piece of research was commissioned to gain an understanding of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the primary prevention workforce. COVID-19 LGBTIQ+ Family Violence Prevention Project: Prevention In The Pandemic

A report commissioned by Respect Victoria has found that LGBTIQ+ Victorians, particularly those experiencing health, social and economic inequalities, have faced increased challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic, increasing the risk of family violence. Conducted by drummond street's Centre for Family Research and Evaluation in partnership with the Gender and Disaster Pod (GAD Pod), the research was commissioned to gain an understanding of the impact of disasters on LGBTIQ+ communities with a focus on family violence prevention.  

 

Impacts of COVID-19 pandemic on older people: A family violence prevention project

A report commissioned by Respect Victoria has found that older Victorians are experiencing increased ageism, social isolation, and poorer physical and mental health as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, increasing the risk of elder abuse. Conducted by the Gender and Disaster Pod (GAD Pod) and the National Ageing Research Institute (NARI), the research was commissioned to gain an understanding of the impact of disasters on older people with a focus on the prevention of elder abuse.
