Mitchell Shire Council in collaboration with local family violence services, health care providers and Victoria Police, are delivering the inaugural Mitchell Community Walk Against Violence to raise awareness of family violence, promote support services and unite to demonstrate the strong stance we have as a community against violence.
We would like the walk to become a recurring annual event, providing an opportunity for the community to stand up and speak out against family violence. As a community, it is important to recognise that violence is a violation of human rights and impacts our society significantly, however there is a solution. Together we have the power to influence positive change for a future free from violence.
The walk will open with guest speakers at Hudson Park, before the procession moves north up Sydney Street, and returns via Patrick Street to conclude at Hudson Park for light refreshments, tea and coffee This is a free event.
