Michael Smith is CEO of Eastern Community Legal Centre, a multidisciplinary legal service that works to prevent problems, progress fair outcomes and support the wellbeing and resilience of communities and community members in Melbourne’s East. The Centre is particularly active in addressing family violence and elder abuse, across a continuum of response, early intervention and prevention.
Michael has held a number of governance roles and is currently a Director with Holstep Health and Chairperson of Knowmore Legal Service, the national community legal centre that provides legal advice and support for survivors of child abuse.
Michael has tertiary qualifications in youth work and social work and is a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He previously worked in homelessness, local government, community development and management.
